Monday, August 21 is the date of the Total Solar Eclipse coming to the USA. The total eclipse will only be visible in a narrow band from the northwest to the southeast, (where the full shadow of the moon hits the earth) but we can enjoy it vicariously through the several shul members who are traveling to view it. However, a 70% partial eclipse will be visible in New Haven. Make sure to view it only through certified eclipse glasses or through a pinhole camera (https://tinyurl.com/y86bmb6v). The eclipse will start at 1:25 pm and end at 4:00 pm. The maximum eclipse, when the moon will cover around 70% of the sun, will be at 2:45 pm.

The Westville Synagogue Shabbat afternoon Family Gathering this week is hosted by Sharon & Ron Salem at 40 Mumford Road, from 4:30-6:00 PM (rain or shine).Shul calendars for 2017-2018 (5778) can still be ordered for $25 apiece.
