Welcome to our new web site!
We have redesigned our shul's web site with the latest technology, to provide more content, a richer experience, and the ability for everyone to contribute. To implement it, we used Drupal 6, a very popular open-source content management system (CMS).
In a CMS, the pages are generated "on the fly" from the latest data on our server, rather than being statically predefined in a rigid pattern. For example, with Drupal you can set your preferences to choose which content you would like to see on the home page. The fact that Drupal is open source makes it not only free, but rich of features that are continuously evolving, thanks to the contribution of thousands of software developers worldwide.
If you are a member of the Westville Synagogue, I recommend that you register to get access to more content, to be able to comment, and to interact with the site in a more participatory way.
After you register, you are ready to explore the site. Click on the links and on the sidebars, browse the WINE and the Shofar newsletters, and navigate the calendar of events by clicking on the highlighted days. Check out also the gallery of our beautiful stained-glass windows and the photos from recent events.
I hope that you will enjoy the layout of the web site and the new features. I am looking forward to hearing from you, with feedback, suggestions, and—above all—help to create fresh content. If you are interested in writing articles or managing a section of our web site, please step forward!
