This year the annual Spring Gala was extremely well attended by over 170 family and friends of our honorees. The event is one of the highlights of the synagogue’s social program. It is also the synagogue’s most important fundraising event. The success on both counts is a reflection not only of the wise choice made by the committee of those we chose to honor but is also a reflection of the continued progress in our Shul’s current development.
The honorees this year were the Kroopnick family, well known and long-time members of New Haven's Jewish community, who received the MiDor LiDor Award. This family has not only contributed over the generations to our synagogue but to many Jewish and non-Jewish institutions. The Shul Leadership award went to Dan and Sally Zanger-Nadis, a couple who have consistently provided to our synagogue with very hard work and leadership over many years. Finally, we were delighted to have the chance of honoring Sydney A. Perry, Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven. Sydney’s commitment to our community and synagogue is legend. To add to our delight was the fact that the presentation to Sydney was made by her mother Lucille Alderman.
We have to thank the committee co-chairmen Barbara Zalesch and Dr Mark Schwartz, who led a very active and committed committee over the many months it takes to organize such a successful event.
A beautiful tribute book was published in occasion of the event.
